KAMSAHAMNIDA!

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Sun Hyunwoo ssi and Choi Kyeong-eun ssi. They are my first teachers in Korean language through TTMIK podcasts. Because of their great efforts and hard work along with their lively and lovely voices, they are able to make lessons easier and more comprehensive. Thank you! I really learned a lot from you!

As expression of gratitude TTMIK also teaches how to translate the expression "Thank you!" in Korean. It is 감사합니다. [gam-sa-hap-ni-da] or [kam-sa-hap-ni-da]. Breaking it down, 감사 means GRATITUDE and 합니다 means I DO.

감사합니다 is commonly read as [kam-sa-ham-ni-da] instead of [gam-sa-hap-ni-da] or [kam-sa-hap-ni-da]. It is the natural way of saying "Thank you." in Korean.

FYI (In Filipino)

감사합니다 or Thank you in Filipino is SALAMAT. But to say it in a formal situation or with respect to the elderly, we add the word PO which makes it SALAMAT PO. If in Korean, there is formal and casual language, we also have the same thing in Filipino. Adding PO in phrases or statements makes it more polite.

SALAMAT PO!
